Bathsheba is one of the places that many of the island tours takes you to, so I wanted to check it out and see what the hype was about.
We took the bus over from the west coast, so got to see some of the less travelled areas of the island before dropping down onto the east coast.
This coast is very different to the west coast and south that I had spent time in before, so it was a nice change of scenery. The ocean is powerful, carving huge rocks into floating islands. We even found one with a bench on the top though have no idea how you would get up to the top, I assume it is for the rock climbers.
Bathsheba is a small town with a couple of restaurants (we went in the off-season so lots of places were closed) and some beautiful views.
I had seen that one of the only overground rivers in Barbados flows here, and hoped there might be some walks, but we couldn't see any signs. Plus, the hill goes nearly straight up, so it would be quite a hard trek.
There was a slightly overgrown track that took us to an amazing view of the coast. It is stunning but once you have seen it there isn't much else to do. We walked up the coast to the next town which was nice before walking back for some food (read about the restaurant we ate at here) and taking the bus home.
I can see why people visit here on the island tour, but I also see why they only spend a short time here. So it might be best to visit if you have a car rather than taking the bus, as it was quite a wait for the bus home.
