Our fourth day in Barbados was a Sunday. We had been told that a lot of places close on Sundays, so we planned a quiet day. The weather was also a bit iffy so we decided to make the most of the hotel facilities for the day.
We started the day our usual way and got breakfast and coffee from the onsite cafe. We planned to spend the day on the private beach attached to the Hilton Hotel. Most people seemed to stay by the pools but just a bit further and you have a beach with two small bays with loungers and umbrellas for the hotel guests which was nearly empty.
We found a spot with a couple of loungers, a small table and a nice parasol and settled in for the morning. It was a relaxing time to read and watch the waves go by. There were a few small showers but not enough to put a dampener on the day. It was pretty windy though.

Once lunch came around we walked down the road to Cuzz's food truck. We had a couple of his fish Sliders with a fair helping of the pepper sauce he has on offer. We sat down in what was becoming our 'spot' just on the edge of the beach while we ate and had a chat with one of the local jewellery vendors. He showed us some of his items, but wasn't pushy at all and he was just a nice and friendly guy. I don't really wear jewellery though, so we weren't his best customers of the day I'm sure.
After we had eaten we headed back to the hotel beach for more relaxation time. Although we had just lunch, we started looking for where might be open in the evening. Even on the beach, the hotel Wi-Fi was working well. I had signed up for the free Hilton Honors club before arriving, so had the upgraded Wi-Fi included without having to pay for it. A lot of the restaurants we had seen before seemed to be open, but we wanted to explore somewhere else if possible. Some of the 'restaurants' listed as open were described as being at Worthing Square, so we guessed a few things in the area would be open and decided to head that way. The rest of the afternoon was spent taking photos and reading while watching the world go by. After a few full-on days of exploring the island and planning things for the big move, a quiet day was just what we needed.
After freshening up we headed out to grab a ZR bus down to the Worthing Square area. Even more, fun was had on this journey as the bus was soooo full, and as ever the local music was pumping out on the radio, which just adds to the enjoyment for us. If they could, I'm sure they would have people sitting on the roof, but it is still the quickest and most reasonably priced transport that we found.

Worthing Square is set back from the road behind a large petrol station but once you find the entrance, currently still with hand sanitation stations, you move into a vibrant space with locals and tourists alike. There are lots of different food trucks set up around the area with communal seating in the open spaces. This gives you the freedom for different people in your party to try different foods without wondering where to sit, which is great. We had a look around at what was on offer and decided we wanted something a little more healthy, and not fried, so we ordered a Poke bowl each from Bento 2 Go. Freshly made with your choice of crisp vegetables, grains and protein it was just what we wanted. They give you both chopsticks and a fork so you don't have to worry about how you are going to eat it. 😁It's just on the right by the entrance, about the second truck in. We followed this with some cake and ice cream just to balance things out. I had some birthday cake ice cream from Bella's Desserts which was flavoursome, and everyone needs ice cream on a warm evening.
There was a stage set up in the middle of the square, next to a water re-fill station and facilities, and while we were there they had a DJ playing music but it looked like there might be singers on some days too. People were just enjoying the space, talking with friends and eating great food that was reasonably priced. I loved the light features tucked into some of the corners or build into the surrounding trees. We decided on the next day we had available we would come back and explore this area more as it looked like the kind of place we might like. Since we had an early start planned for the next day, a catamaran trip for my birthday, we headed back to the hotel for an early night. It was a nice day with an unexpected end and had given us more to think about ready for the big move.
