It's the final day of our holiday and we have felt at home here. We are definitely ready to pack our bags and make the big move to Barbados. There are a few things that still need to be sorted at home, but we now have a clearer picture of the future in mind. Our flight was at around 5 pm and our taxi wasn't collecting us until just after 2 pm. We wanted to make the most of our last few hours in Barbados. We got up and headed over to Carlisle Beach to have another quick swim. We hope to make this a regular thing when we move here. It's great to be able to just walk to the beach and head in without any worries. After we had finished we headed back to the hotel for some breakfast at the hotel cafe. Quick showers and time to finish packing and check out. The hotel has a luggage room so we were able to leave our bags nice and safe with them and relax on the beach and read, with the waves as our backdrop.

We walked down to Cuzz's for our final lunch and tried one of the local pineapple drinks called Frutee. Wow! I like things sweet, but this was a bit much even for me. It was like diabetes in a bottle! It went down well though, it was perfect for the beach and sunshine as one of our final memories. Cuzz's was, as always, delicious and had a line of people waiting for his freshly cooked simple food.

Before heading to the airport I wanted to change into warmer clothes. I'm always really cold on the plane, so wanted to add layers before I checked my bags in. I am really surprised how quickly I acclimatised to the heat in Barbados. It was really only the first couple of days where I was feeling a bit warm and needed to have water the whole time. After that it was warm, and I still had my water, but it was comfortable, and even after I added my jeans I was fine.

Our taxi arrived right on time, and took us to the airport, a semi-outside building with check-in desks, security and the last available Chefette on the island. We knew we would get some food on the flight but, one - we didn't know when this would be, two- we didn't know if it would be something we liked and three - we really like Chefette!!! So, after getting checked in, we decided to grab some lunch before going through security. We had the veggie burger meal with its fries and milkshake. So much tastier than some of the fast food chains at home. This could be a problem once we move here full time, since we visited quite a few times just in the week. It will have to be used as a treat only going forward. 🍔🍟🥤😍

Once you go through security you have the usual duty-free and souvenir shops with seating areas by the gates. Since we had spent our time before going through security our flight was already showing its gate number, and we could move straight to the gate. Everything was running on time and we made our way onboard. It was a really good flight and even the journey through Heathrow airport was smooth, and we were out within an hour of landing, which is amazing.

Costs (between 2 people including tips where applicable)

Hotel cafe - 42.55BBD (£17.61) - Raisin Bran muffins today with coffees

Cuzz' cafe - 31BBD (£12.83) 1 x standard fish cutter, 1 x fish cutter with cheese and 2 pineapple drinks

Chefette - 44.45BBD (£18.40) 2 x veggie burger with fries and milkshakes

Now we are back home we have a few things to sort out before we can relocate, which will take a couple of months, but the holiday has really helped us to visualise the life we want. Barbados?...it's a YES from me! Full speed ahead, new life in Barbados here we come!
