English reading practice - Birth of 'Master of Suspense' (B1/B2 intermediate level English)

Alfred Hitchcock is a very famous person in the world of movies. People think of him as a great and skilled person, especially when it comes to making suspenseful movies. He's known as the "Master of Suspense." What he did in the world of filmmaking has left a big mark that still interests people and helps other filmmakers even today.

Alfred Joseph Hitchcock was born on this day 13th August 1899, in London, England. He grew up in a not-so-rich family. When he was young, he really liked movies, and this showed that he would love doing this for his whole life. He started working in the time of silent movies, doing different jobs such as being in charge of how things looked and helping the main director. This helped him become really good at making movies and understanding how it all worked.

One special thing about Hitchcock was how good he was at making people feel strong emotions, like being really excited or scared. He did this better than most other people who made movies at the same time. He had new and creative ways of filming, moving the camera in tricky ways, making the scenes fit together perfectly, and making the scenes with suspense really exciting. His style was unique, and people knew it was a "Hitchcockian" film when they saw it. He was really good at making moments that were tense and made people worry.

Hitchcock made many great movies. Some of his best ones are "Psycho" (1960), "Vertigo" (1958), and "North by Northwest" (1959). These movies show how he mixed different types of stories together and made them really interesting. Each movie was a canvas, and Hitchcock painted his special stories on them. He liked to look deep into people's minds and feelings and then make the audience feel something unexpected.

Hitchcock also worked with other talented people, like actors and musicians. His work with a famous musician named Bernard Herrmann made some of the most well-known music in movie history. Hitchcock was really careful about small details and how actors acted in his movies. This made the movies even better and more memorable.

Even though Hitchcock is not around anymore, his influence on movies is still strong. People who make movies today still use his ideas and ways of telling stories. He made big changes to the thriller and suspense types of movies. He pushed the boundaries of what stories could be like in movies, and this opened the door for new and different ways of making films.

In the end, Alfred Hitchcock is a name that will always be remembered in the movie world. His way of making movies, full of suspense and excitement, has captured people's attention for a long time and will continue to do so in the future.
