He was born Thomas John Woodward on this day 7th June 1940, in Pontypridd, Wales. His remarkable talent soon caught the attention of record producer Joe Meek, who signed him to a recording contract.


Jones's breakthrough came in 1965 with the release of his hit song "It's Not Unusual." The song's infectious rhythm, combined with Jones's soulful voice, captivated audiences and catapulted him into international stardom. With subsequent chart-topping hits such as "What's New Pussycat?" and "Delilah," Jones established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
