English reading practice -Start of Gavin & Stacey (B1/B2 intermediate level English)

Gavin & Stacey is a funny TV show from the UK. It started airing on 13th May 2007, and lots of people loved it. James Corden and Ruth Jones created and wrote the show. It's about a boy called Gavin who lives in Essex and a girl called Stacey who lives in Wales. They are in love, but they live far away from each other. The show follows their relationship and all the silly things that happen with their families and friends.

The best thing about the show is the funny characters. Stacey's family is a bit crazy, especially her loud mum and her loyal uncle Bryn. Gavin's best friend Smithy is very loud and funny, Nessa is Stacey's best friend who is quite brash. Nessa doesn't say much, but when she does it's very funny.

The show is set in two different parts of the UK, Essex and Wales. This is great because the cultures are different, and it's fun to see how the characters react to each other.

The show talks about lots of things like friendship, family, love, and loyalty. But even when the show talks about serious things, it's still funny and silly.

The show's final episode of season 3 was really exciting and left everyone wanting more. Some people didn't like how the show made fun of certain characters or used stereotypes, but the creators said it was just showing different cultures and what real life is like.

The show was so popular that they made a Christmas special in 2019, which over 18 million people watched. Gavin & Stacey is a really good show because it's funny, the characters are easy to love, and the stories are easy to relate to.
