If you have been following my story so far you know I have planning to move to Barbados for about a year, but hit a few snags. Since we now have everything sorted and flights booked it feels more real. We have been saying 'goodbye' (for now) to friends and family each time we have seen them over the last 12 months, because we really didn't expect it to take this long. But this week I took the trip to see my best friend and her family before I go, because then they will only be seeing me on the screen via video chats.

Saying goodbye is hard, but sometimes the pull from a new adventure wins and you have to go, even if it is hard. Technology has made it much easier. The last time I spent a year away from my friends and family I was in Canada. I would have a phone call each week with my parents so they could learn all about my adventure, and check I was still ok. Back then that was the only option for contact. Now we can see each other and have quick catch-up calls whenever we want.

The world is large and there are many adventures to be had. I think everyone understands why I need to go, and now they can come along for the ride thanks to technology. For now, it is a great way to stay in touch, even when you are far away... well at least until the teleporter is invented!
