If you have been following my journey you know that we are about to move to Barbados. My house has now been sold and we are staying with my mum for the month to make the final preparations and get organised. If you want to see what has been happening on the journey so far you can find it in the travel section here Travel (onepawinthesand.com)

We have been trying to reduce our belongings and not put too much into storage. We have managed to sell and donate lots of things and two houses worth of belongings now fit in half of a room. It's still too much to take with us, so we have continued to sort into 'need', 'would like' and 'store/donate' piles.

We are using vacuum-style bags to maximise the items that will fit into a bag or to protect things from moisture if they are going into storage. I have had a lot of practice packing bags and I quite enjoy it, so this part is fun for me.

We have packed the items into smaller bags that can then be placed in the large bag so things have less chance of moving around in transit. We then had the great task of weighing the bag. We are going to pay the fee for excess weight on at least the big bag, as the cost for that is reasonable, so have up to 32kg to play with.

Now the big bag is packed, you can get a better idea of the size and it looks like one of the old travel trunks that people used when exploring back in the Victorian times! I have started a slightly smaller one for the rest of our belongings, as we will definitely need it. Hopefully, it will take less time to make compared to the big one, as I know how it needs to be put together and I know what I should do before putting it together, whereas for the first bag I was working it all out as I went. I'm just not sure how we are going to transport everything when we go to check in at the airport. Well, that's a problem for future me, I have enough to be organising here. The countdown to the new life continues!

Have you now already arrived in Barbados?

Or are you now struggling with moving all this stuff?

I think this packing requires a great deal of brainpower.

You are indeed a mathematician. Excellent!

I wish you a good journey into a new world.😊
