I have been here a few times now and it consistently has good food and quite a large choice. When we visited Speightstown, so many of the locals suggested this as a good place to eat. Here is my restaurant review.
Food
The food is local style and is in a display case as you walk in the front door. You can see the costs and add as many dishes to your order as you want. They have quite a variety and the fish I tried was lovely with a slight spice to it. We have had a meal for two with soft drinks for around £25, so it's good value too.
Marlin, salad and Cou Cou and Marlin, Macaroni pie and Plantain
.
Drinks
There is a full bar as it is a pub. I have had the fruit punch as I don't really drink alcohol, but they have spirits, beers, juices etc. so I'm sure you would be able to find something that you like to have with your meal, or you can just pop in for a drink and a cool down on a hot day.
Service
The staff are hard-working and really friendly. Look out for the owner who is often sat in the bar wearing his signature bowtie. You are served from the counter rather than at your table and make payment as you go to keep things simple. You can pay by card which is a nice advantage too.
Atmosphere
The pub is right on the seafront and has a small beach next door. I have had a great meal there while watching the sunset or spent some time hiding under an umbrella during a sudden downpour. The inside is set out nicely as well. It is a really relaxed Barbados-style bar that also serves good food and both locals and tourists seem to enjoy visiting.
Overall thoughts
This is a great local bar that is quite large. They could charge ridiculous prices due to the location, but they have stuck to what they know and have kept the prices sensible, so the locals will frequent as well as tourists. It is a great place to relax and have a few drinks and then something to eat. For me, it is one of the highlights of Speightstown. I'm always looking for new places to try, so if there is another gem in this area, let me know.
