My visit here was rather spur of the moment. Having seen the signs while walking along Highway 1, we thought we would follow the sign and see what La Cabane was like and then do a restaurant review. It is a short walk from the road down a hill to the beach. As we hadn't booked we were a little worried they wouldn't have space for us when we stepped off the lane to a bustling restaurant. The lovely ladies at the front desk soon had space for us and it was even next to the stage that was being set up for the evening performance.

Food

La Cabane is open for breakfast, lunch and evening meals and offers healthy salads if you feel you have overdone things while on your holidays. One of the best things on offer here is a variety of desserts! Yes, a restaurant with a choice after the delicious mains have been sampled. (sorry this is the one thing that many Bajan restaurants don't seem to have).

We had Sam's Taco a delicious soft taco with fish and salad with a side of fries. Let's say it is a good job the restaurant is directly on the sand of the beach as the tacos are difficult to handle and add in a huge coconut drink and it was a challenge, but well worth it. We then tried the rum raisin bread and butter pudding and a chocolate pudding.

Drinks

They have an amazing choice of drinks including detox (Juice and teas) and re-tox drinks (wine, beer and lots of cocktails). We tried the Coco Loco (Below) and a Rum Punch Lotion. Both were great and the theatrics of the coconut just added to the experience.

Service

The staff were friendly and the fact that they found a table for us without us booking and then apologised for the time it took to set up the table, just shows how professional they are. The kitchen is open-sided so you can watch them prepare your meals if you can tear your eyes away from the view.

Atmosphere

As I mentioned the restaurant is on the beach so it can be a little uneven underfoot but it does give stunning views over the bay. In the evening they light torches for added atmosphere. I love the small touches they have including the surfboards with the menu at the entrance and 'swings' at the bar and at the edge of the restaurant just ready for your new social photo (You can't actually swing on these, their company policy perhaps, but I'm not sure how else to describe them).

The band that played was upbeat and brought some of the local sounds to the evening. We actually stayed longer than we thought we would, as the music was so good.

Note - the bathroom is around the corner separate from the restaurant and are the beach facilities, but still very clean as they have an attendant.

Overall thoughts

This is a lovely location and the food and music just made it even better. It cost about 90BBD (£35 per person) so it's not a cheap beachside café, but I think it is worth it for the view and experience. They have a website here and their extensive menu can be checked out there. I will definitely be heading back in the future.
